2016 marks the 150th anniversary of New College Worcester, and a year of celebratory events and projects ended on Friday with a wonderful Christmas Concert at Worcester Cathedral.
NCW students performed alongside former students of the College and staff in an afternoon of Christmas music and carols. An audience of over 500 joined in with traditional carols, and enjoyed an eclectic mix of music including items from the NCW Folk, Jazz and Brass Bands alongside singing from the Choir and readings from students and guests.
It was an emotional goodbye to former Principal Mrs Smith, who retired at Christmas after 27 years of service at NCW. “It was a day of mixed emotions for me – it was a wonderful end to the year but also a sad day for me personally as it will be my last as Principal. I have worked with many amazing students over the years and have very happy memories”
2016 has seen a host of celebratory events and activities throughout the year including a fabulous Jubilee Day in April and an Oral History Project in which current students, to create an audio record of nostalgic memories, have interviewed former students.
