Grease is the word! NCW students take the stage by storm!

Rydell High Comes to NCW! After months of rehearsals, Grease (School Edition) finally hit the stage at NCW.

Rydell High Comes to NCW! After months of rehearsals, Grease (School Edition) finally hit the stage at NCW this week. For weeks, the corridors have been filled with “Summer Lovin’” and “Beauty School Dropout”, as students brought Rydell High to life. After all, Grease is the word!

NCW has a long tradition of musical theatre, plays and performances, all cherished by students and alumni alike. This year’s production has been a huge hit, with actors perfecting their solos – and even their American accents!

For many of the cast, this was their first NCW performance, and having the opportunity to be part of a school production – without their vision impairment hindering them – has been an amazing experience for them.

A word from the Director:

Rydell High, where the 1950s come alive with poodle skirts, leather jackets and rock ‘n’ roll! After a whirlwind summer romance, Danny and Sandy unexpectedly reunite at Rydell High. However, their reunion isn’t as smooth as Sandy hoped, as Danny’s “too cool” image with his gang, The Burger Palace Boys, clashes with Sandy’s wholesome personality. As the two try to navigate their feelings, they’re surrounded by the hilarious antics and drama of their friends, including the sassy and confident Pink Ladies led by Rizzo. Stepping into this school not only as a new teacher at NCW, but as a new teacher in general has been an incredible experience. Being part of a school and community where creativity thrives and young people are given the space to grow into the best versions of themselves is a privilege I don’t take lightly. Directing Grease has been an unforgettable experience. This musical is so much more than catchy tunes and iconic dance moves; it’s a story about connection, growth, and celebrating who we are. Working with our cast and crew has been nothing short of inspiring. I have seen students discover hidden talents, take risks and push themselves to new heights, both onstage and behind the scenes. Their energy, dedication and enthusiasm, has been a reminder of how powerful the arts can be in bringing people together. The students have worked so hard since September, rehearsing and dedicating their own time to the show and working extremely hard to bring these characters to life. The magic of theatre is that it’s not just about the final performance, but about the journey, the challenges and the memories they create along the way.
